SMBA will be present at the North Devon Show on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 in the Arcade, to promote South Molton and the surrounding parishes. This will include highlighting South Molton as a tourist and shopping destination, as well as showcasing some of the great products produced and sold from the area – both locally and nationally, as well as services.

The road infrastructure of our area is probably the most testing obstacle to local businesses trying to grow as ‘National Brands’.
No improvements have been carried out between Tiverton and South Molton at this stage. Work has happened between Bideford and Barnstaple but unfortunately this does not help South Molton in the short term.
There is a ‘Link Road’ consultation exhibition at the Amory Centre (South Molton) on Friday 23rd June 2017 – 12pm to 8pm.
Public Consultation Begins 9th June
Devon County Council is consulting on a scheme to improve the section of the NDLR between Borners’s Bridge Junction on the A361 north of South Molton and Heywood Road Roundabout on the A39 north of Bideford to help inform further design work and develop a preferred option.
Public consultation exhibitions are being held at the following locations to provide information and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions.

We are delighted that our meeting in June will be hosted by Paddy Wallace at Quince Honey Farm on Thursday 8th June 2017 starting at 6pm.
Now one of the leading honey farms in Britain, Quince Honey Farm is a family run business, first established in 1949 by Paddy’s father, George. Paddy will share with us, the history of the farm, how it has developed over the years and plans for the future as one of North Devon’s key tourist attractions. Paddy will be discussing the highs and lows of running the business and the challenges that have been overcome along the way.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session and then a guided tour of the farm.

Mole Valley Farmers (situated on Pathfields Business Park, South Molton) will host our SMBA event on Friday 3rd March. Peter Heaton-Jones MP will be our speaker.
Our local MP Peter Heaton-Jones has kindly agreed to lead a meeting to explain how government policy can encourage local business retention, what we can do to develop new business and what his priorities are for business growth in North Devon. The talk by Peter will be followed by a Q&A session. There will be an opportunity to talk with Peter on a less formal basis.

South Molton Business Association will be hosting, South Molton Food Fest, Sunday 2nd April 2017 in the Pannier Market.
Expect loads of food and drink stalls, showcasing both fresh produce as well as many different delicious cooked foods, be that hog roasts, curries, or traditional fayre such as breads, pies and pastries. As well as a plethora of savouries the aim is to fill the market with stalls selling mouth watering cakes, biscuits, and fruit filled jams and spicy chutneys. And as the area is fortunate to have cider and fruit juice producers, there will be the opportunity to try a real Devon tipple and locally produced ales.
