Latest proposals for North Devon Link Road improvements #southmolton #ndevon

The road infrastructure of our area is probably the most testing obstacle to local businesses trying to grow as ‘National Brands’.

No improvements have been carried out between Tiverton and South Molton at this stage. Work has happened between Bideford and Barnstaple but unfortunately this does not help South Molton in the short term.

There is a ‘Link Road’ consultation exhibition at the Amory Centre (South Molton) on Friday 23rd June 2017 – 12pm to 8pm.

Public Consultation Begins 9th June

Devon County Council is consulting on a scheme to improve the section of the NDLR between Borners’s Bridge Junction on the A361 north of South Molton and Heywood Road Roundabout on the A39 north of Bideford to help inform further design work and develop a preferred option.

Public consultation exhibitions are being held at the following locations to provide information and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions.

Green Lanes (Barnstaple):
Friday 16th June 20179am to 5pm
Saturday 17th June 20179am to 5pm

Town Hall (Bideford)
Tuesday 20th June 201712pm to 8pm

Peter Heaton-Jones MP – North Devon Business #ndevon #devonpolitics @molevalley @PeterNorthDevon

On Friday 3 March, Peter Heaton-Jones MP was guest speaker at a meeting organised by the South Molton Business Association (SMBA).

“I was delighted to be the guest speaker at a meeting of the South Molton Business Association. The venue was Mole Valley Farmers – one of the area’s biggest employers.

We had a wide-ranging discussion dominated by ‘the three Bs’ – Business Rates, Broadband and Brexit. Among those attending were representatives of many local companies as well as County, District and Town Councillors, which was good to see.”

From the Newsletter of Peter Heaton-Jones MP

Mr Heanton-Jones MP explained how government policy can encourage local business retention. There was a discussion regarding how best to develop new business and the MP explained his priorities for local business growth. It was evident from the feedback, from local businesses, that improvements to our road infrastructure was vital if we were to expand and even retain existing businesses.

“…extremely optimistic about the local economy here in North Devon. Of course there are challenges, and I’m working on them. But my main message is this – let’s go out and tell people that North Devon is a great place to invest, create jobs, and do business.”

From the Newsletter of Peter Heaton-Jones MP

IMG_0469A question and answer session ensured ample opportunity to obtain Peter’s views, while refreshments offered the chance to talk to him on a less formal basis.

“Our town is rapidly expanding and more and more people are moving into our area. There has to be an increase in jobs and an expansion of services. We have to adapt and change.  We have to promote entrepreneurship and encourage business startups.”

Peter Bright, Chairman of SMBA

Without out a doubt, no matter what your politics are, Peter Heaton-Jones MP is well informed on local matters. Hopefully he will continue defending local business and local services during these times of economic turmoil and make North Devon a stronger place after the up and coming Brexit negotiations with Brussels.

“After a really difficult few years for businesses, it is great to think that we can see some green shoots of recovery. Brexit is unchartered territory for us all but in any new situation there are opportunities and challenges. Both need to be identified and wherever possible, businesses need to seek out the former and put strategies in place to avoid the latter. We certainly live in interesting times!”
